Social dominance in Crayfish
This paper discusses the link between changes in social status, changes in neural circuit excitability, and changes in gene expression in crayfish. It addresses the role serotonin plays in modulation circuit excitability and traces recent efforts to clone and sequence serotonin receptors that affect specific circuits and to determine whether changes in receptor expression result from changes in social status.
