- Distinguished
Honors Professor Award 2004
The Distinguished Honors Professor is nominated by students in the Honors Program
and chosen by a faculty/student committee. The Award is made possible by the
Georgia State University Foundation
- Outstanding Teaching Award for College of Arts and Science, 2002
In my lab, we are characterizing a novel ORF in C. elegans. This ORF is homologous to the human Down Syndrome Cell Adhesion Molecule (DS-CAM). We are using genetic and molecular approaches to determine the expression pattern of this gene in C. elegans development and the protein's function in cells during development. We hope that by understanding this DS-CAM gene we will learn more about how neurons develop.
