Neuroscience at Georgia State University consists of faculty from many
departments that participate in the interdisciplinary Brains and
Behavior Program.
There are two Ph.D. degree programs with different perspectives on
Neuroscience:
Students can choose which program to apply to based on their interests. See the list of Faculty and Research
Areas.
Both programs have a diverse mix of domestic and international students.
Our graduates have been very successful at establishing independent
careers in Neuroscience. Graduate fellowships are available through the
graduate programs and through the Brains and
Behavior Program.
Georgia State University is the home of the Atlanta-wide Center for Behavioral Neuroscience, which focuses on the neural basis of social
behavior. Students can take courses, attend seminars, and utilize
facilities at these other institutions. The centers help maintain shared
state-of-the-art facilities for neural imaging and molecular analysis.
The Atlanta Area has a highly interactive neuroscience community with an
active Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience. There are many activities
year-round. We also have a strong commitment to Science Education for
K-12 and the community.
