Brain Camp

The Brain Camp is a summer education program for middle school students to learn about the brain through fun, hands-on activities led by real neuroscientists. The curriculum, which is tied to the new Georgia Performance Standards for seventh-grade life science, consists of a series of activities including:
- Dissections of sheep brains and cow eyes;
- Experiments on the sensory systems;
- Lessons on neuroanatomy, memory, and how nutrition affects the nervous system;
- Brain art and building "beady" neurons.
Schedule and Location :
- The camp will take place the week of July 23-27, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Renfroe Middle School, City Schools of Decatur.
Program Benefits:
- The goal of the program is to cultivate a life-long interest in science and neuroscience, and to teach scientific inquiry and thinking.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Rising fifth- through eighth-grade students.

- There is a fee for the Brain Camp (financial aid available. Discounts for multiple students from the same family).
