Biology Faculty now named President of SSIB
Dr. Tim Bartness, took office as the President of The Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior (SSIB), at the annual meeting this month (July 2008), in Paris France.
The Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior (SSIB) is an organization committed to advancing scientific research on food and fluid intake and its associated biological, psychological and social processes.
The Society provides a multidisciplinary environment for the free exchange of ideas and information, and serves as a resource for scientific expertise and education on topics related to the study of ingestive behavior.
The SSIB has ~ 2,000 members from around the world and holds an annual meeting in either North America or Europe.
As President, Dr. Bartness, plans to maintain the status of the SSIB as the premier meeting for studies of ingestive behavior and a research, industry and public resource for information on the environmental, genetic and physiological controls of eating and drinking in normal physiology as well as in pathology such a anorexia nervosa, bulemia and overeating associated with obesity. They are also exploring a partnership with one of a couple of journals where their research extensively appears to be sponsored/associated by the Society.
