Neuroscience satellite symposium on:

"Neurotoxic Mechanisms in Alzheimer's disease"
Eight internationally recognized researchers on neurodegenerative diseases will present their work in one of the most exciting areas of current research on Alzheimer's disease,
specifically, the mechanisms by which neurons are damaged in the AD brain.
The speakers include:
Marla Gearing, known for her pioneering investigations of the neuropathology of Alzheimer's disease and animal models
Bill Klein who introduced the concept of toxic Alzheimer's disease diffusible ligands (ADDLs),
James Lah,
a neurologist who discovered the role of the apoE receptor LR11 in regulating the pathogenic AÉ¿ peptide in brain
Efrat Levy, the discoverer of the first mutation linked to a human brain-amyloid disease,
Frank LaFerla, one of the first scientists to investigate intracellular mechanisms of cytotoxicity in Alzheimer's and creator of the triple transgenic mouse model of AD,
Jorge Ghiso, a pioneer in the biochemical analysis of disease-associated proteins and discoverer of the stop codon mutation causing familial British dementia,
Todd Golde, who first elucidated many critical metabolic pathways for the AÉ¿-precursor protein and who has developed novel models for studying AÉ¿ toxicity, and
Eliezer Masliah, one of the first scientists to investigate synaptic impairment in Alzheimer's disease and an expert on emerging therapies.
The agenda and registration information are attached (for reasons of space, registration will be limited to the first 65 registrants).
